Washington: Federal Minister for Interior, Ahsan Iqbal said on Friday that structured dialogue between Pakistan and U.S will start soon.
Speaking at a news conference here, Ahsan said, “We do not want dollars but wanted to extend cooperation based on mutual respect”. He further said that U.S can not halt Pakistan’s economic aid, adding it was not acceptable to Pakistan that the US’ security requisites are met but Islamabad’s concerns are ignored.
Interior Minister said that peace in Afghanistan was important for Pakistan. He explained that Pakistan and Afghanistan are closely linked to each other and will continue to be. He added U.S was too important for Pakistan and we want friendly relations with U.S. He said Islamabad and Washington, therefore, can together play a pivotal role in Afghanistan and the related peace process.
He stressed the need to resolve security related issues of the both countries, saying U.S security concerns could not be removed unilaterally. He said his tour to U. S has helped highlight the viewpoint of Pakistan. He said Pakistan has not begged from any one for security operation. “We want to match in the field of development not violence”, he added.
Ahsan Iqbal recalled that Pakistan faced worst U. S sanctions, saying these not only inflicted losses to Pakistan but U.S too. He said Pakistan will take action against terrorists if information was provided to it. No terrorist was good or bad but a terrorist was only a terrorist, he further said. He added international community has to jointly face terrorism. He said that geographical autonomy of Pakistan must be respected.
He made it clear that Pakistan was not oblivious to its defence. He said Pakistan was keeping an eye on those forces, which wanted to destabilize it. He said any move to destabilize Pakistan internally would not let succeed.
Talking about the economy of the country, he said the economy of Pakistan has been improved while power crisis has also been resolve while foreigner investors are also taking interest in CPEC. “We wanted to keep good relations with neighbors based on equal respect”, he added.
Interior Minister talking about the national politics said that former Prime Minister accepted the verdict of apex court without delay. “We are not committing contempt of court but questions are being raised over the verdict across the globe”, he added. He said prestige of the apex court became disputed after verdict of Nawaz Sharif. He said such decisions must not be done, which lead to make Supreme Court as disputed.
