Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo motu notice of offshore bank accounts of Pakistanis besides summoning all details on this count from State Bank, FBI and SECP.
The CJP has also directed finance ministry and foreign ministry to provide the details.
The CJP remarked “ tell us the properties are being held by how many Pakistanis in other countries and money stashed by them in foreign banks. What steps have been taken for bringing back them to home. IB and ISI should provide assistance to the concerned departments. Tell us what action has been taken on Panama and Paradise Leaks. The illegal money of Pakistanis lying abroad is national asset which has to be brought back. Most of Pakistanis are operating bank accounts abroad. Sending money abroad led to create imbalance.
The court also sought details of properties of Pakistanis located in Switzerland and UAE. The court ordered for providing the details within 2 weeks.
CJP remarked the special bench will hear the case after two weeks. All the departments and ministries should extend full cooperation to the concerned authorities.
