Rawalpindi: Provincial Health Minister Suleman Rafique on Thursday took notice of sudden increase of Pneumonia in Rawalpindi and immediately sought report for the Vice chancellor of Rawalpindi Medical College and Chief Executive of Allied Hospitals over the lack of facilities in hospitals.
However, he strictly directed the officials to provide best medical treatment and all out facilities to pneumonia patients and their attendances.
On the other hand patients suffering from pneumonia have crossed 500 in all Allied Hospitals. Residents are falling prey of different diseases due to increase of dry cold, which resulting abundance of patients in the hospitals.
Pneumonia, flu, fever, throat, breath and skin related diseases are increasing in the city due to dry cold while all three government hospitals of Rawalpindi city witnessed a jam-pack of patients.
Most of the parents whose children affected with pneumonia were heading towards private hospitals of the City because government has jam-packed with patients especially children. Almost 50% children have become victims of pneumonia while three big hospitals of the city have been filled with pneumonia, flu, cough and skin disease.
All three hospitals of the city have lacked basic facilities to counter this siltation. Sources told that over 500 patients due to outburst of pneumonia disease visited hospitals of the city during the last four days while this number was increasing gradually.
Due to increasing number of patients in Benazir Bhutto hospital, upto five patients are being treated at a single bed while the strategy has been failed to tackle with any emergency situation.
Currently more than one hundred children affected with pneumonia had admitted in Benazir Bhutto hospital and they have only 20 beds both for mothers and their children.
Parents of the small children are much worried upon failure to find medical treatment to their children as patients with pneumonia are being returned by hospital administration.
With influx of the patients, there is shortage of medicines while most of the patients are returning without receiving medicines from the hospitals. Doctors of the said hospitals are prescribing medicines to be purchased from private medical stores.
When contacted Benazir Bhutto Hospital Children Ward In-charge Dr. Asghar he stated hospital administration was doing its best to provide medical treat to every single children affected with Pneumonia.
