Islamabad: Government and CNG Association has come face to face as government imposed section 144 over sale of CNG across Islamabad to overcome ongoing energy crises while Association abjured to follow directives.
The government decision regarding imposition of CNG sale has refuted the tall claims made by Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi about huge cache of gas in the country.
Government took the decision due to load shedding and low pressure of gas.
After imposition of section-144, if any of the CNG station caught selling the gas, owner would be put behind the bars for six months along with hundreds of thousands rupees fine.
Islamabad has total 100 CNG stations but only 80 stations are operational and selling gas in the jurisdiction of federal capital.
Poor people use CNG as fuel in their vehicles and government has deprived poor from this cheap source of fuel across Islamabad.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), Capt. (R) Mushtaq has imposed section-144 ordering owners of CNG stations to not sale CNG to vehicles from 5:00 am to 10:00 am in the morning and 5:00 pm in the evening to 10:00 pm at night.
The orders will be implemented from December 28, 2017, police and city administration have been given special powers to stop CNG sale.
President CNG Association, Ghias-ud-Din Paracha talking to Online rejected the prohibition of sale and termed it as conspiracy which is followed by a big plan.
“Government has not taken us into confidence while imposing ban on sale of CNG, we have categorically told the government that such horrific directions would not be followed and we will protest against this ban,” said President CNG Association.
He added that on the one hand government claims that there is no shortage of gas in the country while on the other hand it has banned sale of CNG to avoid load shedding.
“Neither have we been taken into confidence nor gas companies were informed before the decision,” he mentioned.
