Islamabad: The 50th death anniversary of eminent Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas was observed on Monday.

President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Masood Ahmed Khan and Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan attended the special ceremony and laid floral wreath at the Mausoleum of renowned Kashmiri leader at Faizabad Rawalpindi whereas a company Azad Kashmir Police presented a special salute to the deceased leader on the occasion.

The day was started with the recitation of Holy Quran on the grave of Ch. Ghulam Abbas. Ex-PM AJK Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Member Legislative Assembly Saghir Chughtai, Member Kashmir Council Sardar Muktar Abbasi, Ex- Minister Raja Muhammad Yasin and others were present on the occasion to pay tributes to the great leader.

Prime Minister Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan lauded the political and national services of prominent Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas Khan saying that the Ch. Ghulam Abbas was the true leader and there was a reign of honor and respect in his leadership. “Ghulam Abbas has the honor that he wrote a letter by his blood to Ayub Khan not to contest election against Fatima Jinnah, Ch. Ghulam Abbas has been associated with Kashmir movement in his whole life”.

Ch. Abbas, he said, lived very simple life and simplicity was the hallmark of his superb personality. Prime Minister also mentioned the former Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum in this regard with sincerity and said that he stayed with Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas Khan and always considered him honourable adding that Prime Minister also mentioned other Kashmiri leaders including Raja Haider Khan, Mir Waiz Yousuf Shah, Mian Hayat Bakhsh, Justice Akram, Sardar Ishaq Khan, Samad Wani, Bashir Qureshi and Ghulam Rasool Baig and others.

He told the participants that we all have the responsibility to remember our well-known leaders. The Prime Minister expressed his determination that according to the views of Chaudhary Ghulam Abbas, the whole state remained united for their affiliation with Pakistan as more than six lacs Kashmiri sacrificed their lives for this great cause.

Prime Minister on the occasion announced that Mausoleum of the Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas will be constructed before long.
