Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and human rights organizations while expressing concern over the framing of murder and other fake charges against the Kashmiri youth have termed the move a handiwork of the puppet administration to ruin the career of the youth.
This concern was expressed in response to indictment of 17 youth by a Srinagar court in fake cases of murder, rioting and robbery in connection with the lynching of a police officer at Nowhatta in Srinagar, earlier this year. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Ayub Pandit was lynched in Srinagar on June 22, 2017.
The court announced the order after hearing counsel of the youth Nazir Ahmed Ronga and public prosecutor. Both sides had been arguing on framing of charges from October 2017.
On 6th October 2017, the police had filed charge-sheet in the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Srinagar, against the 17 youth. It also separately filed challan against four juveniles accused in the case.
The CJM, Srinagar, committed the challan of 17 accused to the court of principal district and sessions judge, Srinagar, for trial who later transferred the case to fourth additional principal district and sessions court.
The case has been listed for December 16, 2017.
