Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) President Rotary International, Mr.Ian H.S. Riseley, attended Rotary International District 3272, Pakistan Inter City meeting at Islamabad. It was his first ever visit of Pakistan in which he interacts with Rotarians of all over Pakistan.

The event was arranged by President Rotary Club Islamabad Muhammad Usman Ayub with the collaboration of Assistant Rotary Governor Muhammad Fayyaz Qureshi, Past Deputy Governor Rotarian Haji Fazal ur Rehman and Secretary Rotary International Rotarian Muhammad Nasir Mirza. The meeting was also attended by Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, District Governor Rotary Faiza Qamar, Presidents and Members, Rotary Clubs from Pakistan, high government officials, notables and friends of Rotary.

Addressing on the occasion, Rotary International President, Ian H.S. Riseley, said that we are making a difference in the world and Rotary challenges us to become better human beings having ambitions to strive for higher goals and incorporate the spirit of Service Above Self into our daily lives. Mr. Ian said that as an organization, we are guided by the three strategic priorities to support and strength Rotary clubs, enhance humanitarian services and promote Rotary’s public image and awareness. He highly appreciated the valuable contributions of Rotary clubs in Pakistan in the field of social service especially their active involvement in eradication of Polio. He further stated that we have to tackle many challenges to overcome the miseries of deserving persons and Rotarians can play their pivotal role to bring happiness and prosperity in the lives of un-privileged sections of society. He appreciated the social service projects of Rotary Club Islamabad and asked that Rotarians should continue their struggle to resolve the social issues of deserving people more vigorously.

Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Margaret Adamson, while speaking as Guest of Honour stated that huge funds had been provided for Polio eradication in Pakistan. He lauded the services of Rotary Clubs in Pakistan in connection with resolving the social issues of deserving people. District Governor Faiza Qamar said that Rotarians in all over Pakistan working with devotion and become a helping hand to needy persons and a number of social service projects had been completed with the active participation of Rotarians and community. President Rotary Club Islamabad Muhammad Usman Ayub briefed about the club performance and highlighted the salient features of social activities being carried out to resolve the issues of deserving persons. On this occasion, he expressed his gratitude to all fellow Rotarians for extending their full support to organize intercity meeting of Rotary. He also acknowledged the gesture of President Rotary International and thanked for visiting Pakistan. Assistant Governor M. Fayyaz Qureshi and other Rotarians also spoke on the occasion. Earlier on the arrival of President Rotary International Ian H.S. Riseley, a rousing reception was accorded and beautiful cultural dancing performances were also displayed. Later, awards were distributed among Rotarians on their outstanding performance in different fields.
