MIRPUR (AJK):: Following the foot-step of their central leadership of ending their 22-day-old protest ‘dharna’ (sit-in) at Faizabad inter-change as a result of an agreement signed with the government, the activists of ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (Peace Be Upon Him)’ Sunni Tehreek and other religious groups called off their ‘dharna’ (sit-in) in various parts of AJK including Mirpur district on Monday.

Life returned normal in AJK, side by side rest of the country, on Monday soon after the participants of the protest sit-ins in various AJK cities including at Mangla bridge on Dina-Mirpur Highway peacefully dispersed in the light of the decision by their central leaders about ending the 22-day-long sit-in, they had staged to mark protest against the controversial amendment in the oath of Finality of Prophethood (PBUH) – which had been later declared withdrawn by the government on the floor of the parliament.

As reported earlier Mirpur district of AJK was disconnected with rest of the world since last 72 hours after hundreds of people belonging to the Islamic religious groups including ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (Peace Be Upon Him) and Sunni Tehreek staged sit-in at the middle of Mangla bridge since Saturday to register resentment against the use of force against the participant protesters of Faizabad inter-change sit-in on Saturday.

The participants of the sit-in at Mangla Bridge peacefully dispersed as soon as their leaders at the mega protest congregation at Faizabad announced to call off the sit-in besides advising their followers to do the same in rest parts of the country including AJK.

Police remained alert to maintain peace and order during whole of the exercise and the overall situation remained peaceful whole the day Monday.
Large number of people including the activists of Sunni Tehreek, ‘Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (Peace Be Upon Him)’ and other religious groups who had camped in sit-ins at the central locations in various other AJK cities including Kotli, Bhimbher, Poonch and other places also peacefully dispersed.

In Mirpur, hundreds of the participants of the Mangla bridge sit in brought out a procession while peacefully dispersing from the site. The procession later converged in to a rally at central shaheed chowk which remained peaceful.
