ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court (AC) Islamabad has declared finance minister Ishaq Dar absconder in assets reference.
The reference pertaining to accumulation of assets beyond his known source of income by Ishaq Dar came up for hearing before judge Muhammad Bashir of AC Islamabad Tuesday.
The court accepted NAB plea for declaring Ishaq Dar an absconder and ordered for initiating proclaimed offender proceedings .
The court also rejected the plea from counsel of Ishaq Dar for exemption for his client from attendance as well as the request for appointment of representative in the absence of the accused.
The court also issued notice to Ahmad Ali Qudoosi, guarantor of Ishaq Dar and directed him to file reply in writing till November 24.
The court also inquired from guarantor as to why the surety bonds of Rs 5 million be not confiscated.
At the inception of hearing Hussain Faisal Mufti counsel for Ishaq Dar argued Ishaq Dar has sent power of attorney in the name of Reehan Rashid and authorised him to nominate him his representative. If need be then Ishaq Dar can become available at audio or video link.
The counsel for Ishaq Dar also filed third medical report of his client in the court. According to this report one artery of Ishaq Dar is not working properly, therefore, he has been called again on November 27 for medical check up in connection with his treatment.
He further argued that there is no contradiction in the three medical reports which have been filed so far in respect of Ishaq Dar. Dr has forbidden Ishaq Dar from undertaking any international trip and a mention in this regard has been made in the medical report.
NAB prosecutor Imran Shafiq while opposing the medical report said British doctor’s medical report is not even in accordance with British laws.
Counsel for Ishaq Dar said that the court issued orders for verification of the medical certificate on November 08 but these orders were not complied with. It shows malafide intent of NAB that it has not got verified medical certificate from UK.
NAB prosecutor said that medical certificate has been sent through foreign office for verification.
NAB filed report on non bailable arrest warrants of Ishaq Dar in the court. It was said in the report that raids were conducted on the residences of the accused in Lahore and Islamabad for serving warrants but the accused has fled to other country along with his family. No other person except the gardener of Ishaq Dar was present at the residence of the accused in Gulberg Lahore.
The hearing was adjourned till December 4.
