Karachi: Chief Justice Sindh High Court (SHC) has taken notice of strange punishments awarded by subordinate courts in Karachi.
According to media reports, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Ahmad Ali Sheikh while taking notice of strange punishments awarded by subordinate courts Karachi sought report from respective district and session judges.
Court also sought record of all punishments awarded by subordinate courts.
On the other hand, judicial Magistrate East; South and additional session judge West along with other Courts had received their letters in this regard.
According to SHC Chief Justice these punishments were not awarded according to law and basic human rights are being violated and judiciary would be defamed due to such punishments.
It is vital to mention here that several strange punishments had been awarded by Karachi Sub-ordinate courts as one suspect was awarded punishment of standing on road with holding play card.
On the other hand, one suspect was awarded punishment of putting mats in the mosque and other was verbally ordered to offer Prayer for 3 years, while court had adjourned the hearing till November 22.
