Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, a family in Khag area of Budgam district has said that Indian Army thrashed and beat up its members during a nocturnal raid.
The family members of Assadullah Khan, 85, informed a Srinagar-based English daily, Kashmir Reader, over phone that they were attacked by the Indian Army personnel.
“It was 10pm when we observed suspicious movement of some persons outside our home and we came out to see,” Abdul Majeed Khan, son of Assadullah Khan, said. “We saw dozens of army men who fled to nearby paddy fields,” he said.
Abdul Majeed said that at about 11:45pm scores of army personnel came again and banged their doors and windows. “They barged in and we shouted but they beat us ruthlessly with butts and barrels of guns and injured our six members,” he added.
Abdul Majeed said that they called police station Khag over phone but the police personnel paid no heed. “Later we went to the police station Khag to register a complaint against army but police did not open the main gate of the station,” he further said.
Those who were injured in the army thrashing have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Khan, Mohammad Umar Khan, Assadullah Khan, Mohammad Maqbool Khan and Gulzar Ahmad Khan.
SHO Khag, Muhammad Aslam, confirmed to the daily that the army personnel had cordoned the house of Assadullah Khan and thrashed his family members.
