Jammu: In occupied Kashmir, undermining the basic and legal rights of the jail inmates, the authorities in Central Jail Kotbhalwal have subjected under trials to physical torture and stripping naked.
In a latest episode, a disturbing photograph from the jail is being circulated within police circles, in which an inmate is shown completely naked with jail authorities incurring physical torture on him.
Such incidents are common with the inmates wherein they are subjected to torture and abuses, denting the very sanctity of human rights. “This is not a first incident and neither would it be the last. Such incidents were reported, earlier, but no action was taken against the culprits,” a media report quoting jail sources said.
This is routine in the jail premises but these types of cases remain unreported owing to which the gravity of torture exaggerate. The report quoting a senior police official said that many times such incidents had been reported to the quarters concerned, but things remained unchanged.
“It is not only handiwork of jail officers concerned, but some senior officers are also involved in the menace, as such incidents create fear psychosis among inmates,” officer said and added the circulation of this photo within police galleries is also believed to be intentional.
