LAHORE: Punjab government has nodded yes to issue arms licenses to government officials in view of growing terrorism threats.
It has been made binding on 27 senior officers to keep arms with them while arms licenses to 9 officials have been issued. The licenses will be issued to more officers as well.

Punjab government t had instructed law enforcement agencies to give protocol to officials performing duties in intelligence departments and on key positions. However, officials turned down the offer upon which provincial govt compelled them to carry licensed weapons with them.
The approval for keeping arms with them and issuing arms licenses to more officials will be accorded in the meeting taking place in next week. 80 percent computerization of arms licenses will be completed within next two months and later the ban on arms licenses will be lifted.

Meanwhile, Home Department Punjab said that arms licenses have been issued to certain officials but their name can not be mentioned due to security concerns.
