MIRPUR (AJK): In Azad Jammu & Kashmir people Tuesdayobserved the Defense Day of Pakistan with great enthusiasm and devotion with the renewal of the pledge to give every kind of sacrifices for the stability, solidarity and prosperity and for strengthening the defense of Pakistan as and when required.

To mark the day, special ceremonies were held in various parts of AJK including all the district head quarters of Mirpur Muzaffarabaad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Palandri, Hattiyan, Haveili, Kotli, Bhimbher and Neelam valley to pay glorious tributes to the martyrs of the 1965 war for giving the sacrifices of their valuable lives to safeguard the geographical and ideological frontiers of the country. In Mirpur, AJK’s major city of expatriates, major ceremony to pay glorious tributes to the heroes of the history Indo-Pak war of 1965 was held at the Conference hall of the Deputy Commission Officer under the auspices of National Events Organizing Committee Mirpur district. Chairman NEOC and Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Ch. Amjad Iqbal chaired the ceremony attended by the people belonging to all segments of the local civil society.

Earlier, representative of AJK government Ch.Haq Nawaz ADC (G) and other participants placed the floral wreathes on the graves of the martyrs including the martyr of operation Zerb-e-Azab – shaheed Lt. Col. Mirza Imran Arshad Jiraal and others.

Addressing the ceremony speakers including Prof. Mirza Arshad Jiraal, father of the martyred soldier – Lt. Col. Imran Arshad, Deputy Commissioner Ch. Amjad Iqbal, SSP Mirpur Raja Irfan Salim, PML (N) Chairman Professional Wing Dr. Amin Ch. President Press Club Mirpur Hafiz Maqsood, President Markazi Anjuman e Tajran (Ittehad) Ch. Mahmood Ahmed, Asif Dar, Secretary General NEOC Altaf Hamid Rao,Tanveer Ahmed Ghazi, Raja Khalid Mahmood, Suhail Shujah President Traders Organisation, Senior Journalist Ch. Khalid Hussain, Tariq Mallick and others offered fateha for the departed souls besides paying rich tributes to the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 wars and to those who have laid their lives in protecting the country’s sovereignty.

Paying rich tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of the liberation of the motherland from the Indian yoke – especially during the ongoing uprising in occupied Jammu & Kashmir, speakers said that Kashmiris struggle for freedom is in fact the movement for completion of Pakistan. They underlined that the occupied valley of Jammu & Kashmir was today being banged with full throat slogans of “ Pakistan say Rishta Kiyaa – La e La Ha Illalah” and “We Want Freedom”.
Speakers said that September 6 Defence Day of Pakistan is the day of renewal of the pledge by entire nation to remain alert and vigilant to defend the country in case of any threat from across the frontiers. They vowed that people of Jammu & Kashmir living either side of LoC will defend every inch of Pakistan in case of any of aggression.

Meanwhile, addressing a ceremony at Govt. Pilot High School No. 1, speakers including Principal and the school students paid glorious tributes to the martyrs. They reiterated their pledge to continue the struggle for freedom of occupied Jammu Kashmir from the Indian yoke and to translate the dream of accession of entire Jammu Kashmir to Pakistan into reality. Speakers strongly condemned the recent unrest on the Line of Control and the working boundary in Jammu & Kashmir following the frequent violation of ceasefire in shape of unprovoked firing by the Indian troops from across the LoC targeting the populous forward locations on the LoC in AJK.

They called upon the world community to take immediate notice of the increased aggressive Indian posture in the region and exert due pressure on New Delhi to move for a composite dialogue with Pakistan to resolve all outstanding differences especially the core issue of Kashmir.
