Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that 13 electoral constituencies consisting of 16 tehsils, 231 villages with more than 5 million population located on the Line of Control (LoC) being direct target of Indian forces have been facing the brunt of cross LoC firing over the past several years.
The Prime Minister made these views on the Call Attention notice of member Assembly Chaudhry Yasin Gulshan and opposition member Assembly Malik Nawaz during the session of the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly here on Monday.
“The Indian Army wishes to push the people settled along the LoC back in order to weaken our defense line. The armies fight wars with the support of the people. In occupied Kashmir, there is no public support of the Indian Army, therefore it is facing tough resistance and defeat at the hands of Kashmiri peopleâ€, he said adding that India’s military status in Kashmir is that of an occupying power.
Terming Pakistan army as defenders of Kashmiris the PM said that Pak Army on the other hand was enjoying a huge support of the masses in Azad Kashmir.
He said that the government was providing all resources to the victims of Indian firing. “74 million rupees had been allocated for victims of Indian firing in the budget,†he said.
The Prime Minister Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider said India is our enemy, she is putting her every effort to weak our defence. The Indian Army he said was trying to push the people living near the LOC back but people of AJ&K are standing like a rock for defending the homeland. He said that India was continuously committing violations of the ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control. “Indian forces targeted the civilian population in Haveli, Kotli, Chakothi and other districts, many people embraced martyrdom and many were injured and the property was damagedâ€, Khan said.
“Members of the assembly should send their detailed suggestions regarding the affectees of Indian firing so that they could be provided the facilities and be helped out, practicallyâ€, he said. Prime Minister Azad Kashmir said that the present government has introduced a new “Sila e Esar” plan for the victims of the LoC in the budget and in this regard the well off people would also chip in. “In view of the situation, State Disaster Management Authority has set up an emergency plan for immediate recovery of victims of Indian firing. All the items of necessity of life are being provided to victims under this planâ€, he added. He said that the financial loss of the public was also estimated in the 90s. “Our hard effort is to make sure that the payment of around Rs. 520 million be made possible and a proposal for provision of this sum is being sent to Azad Jammu and Kashmir Councilâ€, he maintained.
