Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) A private firm has failed to pay over Rs120 million late development charges to Rawalpindi Metro Bus Authority for completing the construction of mega project late.

According to documents available, the construction work of the metro bus was delayed from Rawalpindi Committee Chowk Section to Sixth Road Section, however, a private firm MS Qalander Baksh and vendors failed to Rs127 million late development charges under clause 13 of contract. The private firm was bound to complete the project by 24th August 2014.

The contract from Rawalpindi Committee Chowk Section to Sixth Road Section was awarded to MS Qalander Baksh and vendors in Rs1.420 billion. The Clause 13 of contract mentions that if a private firm fails to complete the section on time, then the firm is liable to pay 10 percent of total contract amount.

The Audit General has recommended the authorities to start inquiry, recover amount from the firm. He also directed to take action against responsible and blacklist the private firm.
