ISLAMABAD: The Nation will celebrate the 70th Independence Anniversary of motherland on Monday with a renewed pledge to safeguard the country against any threat and make it a true Islamic welfare state as envisioned by the founding father Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The day will dawn with thirty-one gun salute in the federal and twenty-one gun salute in the provincial capitals.

After the Fajar prayers, special prayers will be offered for the prosperity, integrity and solidarity of the country and success of the long drawn struggle of Kashmiris.

The main event of the day will be flag-hoisting ceremony at Parliament House.

President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yong will jointly unfurl the national flag at the ceremony.

The President will address the nation on the occasion.

Flag-hosting ceremonies will also be held at provincial capitals, district headquarters and important national institutions.

Radio Pakistan will broadcast a special day-long transmission on the Independence Anniversary .

Meanwhile, all major public and private buildings, roads and avenues have been tactfully decorated with illuminations, national flags, portraits of the national leaders, banners and buntings to give a festive look.

A host of events including seminars, conferences, lectures, debates, speech contests, exhibitions, quiz competitions, stage dramas and Mushairas have been arranged by different organizations in connection with the day.

PUNJAB

Like other parts of the country, all is set in Lahore to celebrate the 70th Independence Day (August 14) on Monday with great zeal and favour.

On this day nation paying tribute to the national heroes who sacrifices and pledging to work for the country’s prosperity.

The day will dawn with twenty-one gun salute in the provincial metropolis.

The ceremony of Change of Guard will be held at Allama Iqbal Mausoleum in Lahore and the citizens will also offer Fateha on his grave.

Special prayers will be arranged for the peace, prosperity and solidarity of the country while different functions and seminars organized by government departments and educational institutions will also be part of the celebrations.

All public and private buildings in the city have been decorated with lights, buntings and national flags.

SINDH

In Karachi, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Mazar-e-Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The change of guards’ ceremony will also be held at Mazar of Quaid-e-Azam where a contingent of Pakistan Navy will assume the guard duties at the Mazar.

Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah will attend the event. On this occasion, school children will present national songs and tableaus.

KP

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the main function in connection with Independence Anniversary will be held at Governor House in Peshawar tomorrow.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra will hoist the national flag.

Different educational, cultural and literary organizations have chalked out special functions to mark the Anniversary .

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association has organized a Jashn-e-Azadi cycle race from Peshawar to Nowshera tomorrow morning.

Functions to mark the 70th Anniversary of independence celebrations will also be held in FATA.

BALOCHISTAN

Like other parts of the country, the 70th Independence Anniversary will also be celebrated with zest and zeal in Balochistan tomorrow.

The major event will be held in Provincial Assembly where Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri will hoist National Flag.

Similar ceremonies will also be held at the Governor House and Balochistan High Court building.

GILGIT-BALTISTAN

The 70th independence Anniversary of the country will also be celebrated In Gilgit-Baltistan with traditional zeal and solemnity tomorrow.

The main function of birth anniversary will be held in City Park in Gilgit at morning 9 am. Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman will hoist national flag and address to the ceremony.

A smartly turn out contingent of Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts and Police will present guard of honor on the occasion. Our Gilgit correspondent Sher Muhammad reports that soon after end of main function, Azadi rally will be brought out from City Park. Boy Scouts from all schools of thought students and people will participate.

A speech contest will be held in Women Degree College Gilgit where Chief Minister Hafeez-ur-Rehman will be chief guest.

Meanwhile, another Rally will bring from Lalik Jan stadium at 4 pm which passing through main bazar culminate at same place on 6 am.

People hailing from various segment of society have also finalized arrangements to celebrate 70th Independence anniversary in a befitting manner.

AJK

In Azad Kashmir, flag hoisting ceremonies will be held at all District and Tehsil headquarters of the liberated territory.

In Muzaffarabad, the flag hoisting ceremony will be held at President House where AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan will raise the national flag.

All the three stations of Azad Kashmir Radio are broadcasting special programmes in connection with Independence Anniversary .
