Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Denouncing India’s traditional policy of intrigue and intransigence the federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir has said that Indian obduracy and its negative role was a root cause of instability and unrest in South Asia.

According to a press statement issued here on Wednesday the federal minister said that celebrating Pakistan’s victory and raising Pakistani slogans in occupied Kashmir was a manifestation of Kashmiris’ unconditional love for Pakistan. India he said was killing innocent Kashmiris to take revenge of the defeat they suffered in champions’ trophy tournament recently. “A 13-year old Kashmiri student was martyred by Indian occupation troops just for saying well-done Pakistani team”, Tahir said adding that India in sheer arrogance has made it [sport] as a pretext to shed the blood of innocent Kashmiris. He said that even today there were dozens of Kashmiri leaders who have been languishing in Indian jails over the past several decades. Terming it as an outrageous assault on the basic human rights Tahir said that Indian forces were carrying raids on their houses and their family members were being threatened every now and then.

Urging the international community and human rights organizations to take notice of Indian brutalities in the held valley the Minister said that after the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani the educated youth of Kashmir took the mantle of resistance movement in occupied Kashmir. He said that despite using its military might India has miserably failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ unconditional allegiance and love for Pakistan. “Whilst braving bullets and pellets the valiant people of Kashmir have been openly expressing their allegiance with Pakistani state”, the minister said.

He expressed the optimism that the day was not far when Kashmiris would achieve their cherished goal for which they offered tremendous sacrifices. He observed that India’s negative role and the policy of intransigence has been a major cause of unrest and instability in the region.

In order to ensure durable peace and stability in the region Tahir said that being a member of SCO and SAARC India should play a role of responsible state thereby paving a way for the implantation of the UNSC resolutions to seek an amicable solution of Kashmir dispute.

He said that it was incumbent upon the international community to play its much needed role to settle the long-pending dispute to mitigate the unending sufferings of Kashmiri people.
