CARDIFF: English captain Eoin Morgan has blamed the poor condition and his team’s failure to adopt the conditions for his team’s loss against Pakistan in the semi-final of ICC Champions Trophy.

Talking to media after England’s defeat in the semi-final, Morgan said that his team was nowhere near to the game it played earlier in the tournament.

“It’s a big frustration because I think we’ve played some great cricket in this tournament so far, and we weren’t anywhere close to it today,” he said.

Talking about conditions and wicket, the England captain said that there was no home advantage for his team in the game.

“I don’t think there was any home advantage, if that’s what you’re asking. We knew that we were going to play on a used wicket at some stage in this tournament, and certainly we found out the other day that today was going to be on a used wicket,” he said.

“Having watched the game against Sri Lanka, we actually didn’t think it was that bad,” he said.

“But certainly today it was — coming from Edgbaston, it was obviously a big jump in pace and bounce and too much of an ask for us to adjust to really,” he added.

Morgan, however, gave credit to Pakistani bowlers for restricting England’s batsmen from scoring big runs.

“Pakistan bowlers bowled really well. They adjusted to conditions extremely well,” he said.

“Fair credit to Pakistan. They played brilliantly.” Morgan added.
