PESHAWAR: At least four peace committee volunteers were killed and two others injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion in Khyber Agency on Monday.

The peace committee members were on a routine patrol in Akakhel area of Tirah Valley when a bomb planted on the roadside detonated near their vehicle.

The victims have been identified as commander of peace committee Zarwali, Noor Khan, Mir Nawaz, and Hameed Khan.

After the incident, a heavy contingent of security forces has launched search operation in the area.

No group has claimed responsibility of the attack.

The incident took place few days after a suicide bomb blast targeted the convoy of the deputy chairman of Senate Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri in Mastung district, roughly an hour east of provincial capital Quetta.
