Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The president of All Kashmir News Society (AKNS) Sardar Zahid Tabassum here on Wednesday dissolved the society’s executive body to pave a way for holding fresh elections to elect the new body for next two years (2017-2018).
According to a press release, the decision to the effect was taken during a high level meeting which was presided by the AKNS chief Sardar Zahid Tabbasum and attended by office bearers and members of the society including Khawaja Sarfaraz Ahmed, Athar Masood Wani, Sajjad Shah, Sardar Imitiaz, Ishaq Naqvi, Banaras Chudhary, Chudhary Khalid, Mumtaz Khaksar, Azra Salib and Malik Amir whereas Shahzad Lolaby and Javed Chudhary were present on the occasion. The participants at the meeting while appreciating the AKNS apex body’s performance reiterated their pledge to strengthen the forum besides working for the progress and prosperity of state news papers.
Pertinently, senior journalist and the chairman of Editors Council, Raja Kafeel has been nominated as the chief election commissioner.
During the meeting a list of 46 members has been released according to which the chief election commissioner would conduct the elections. The AKNS session also paid eulogizing tributes to its former executive member Allahdita Khaksar and renowned journalist Shamim Chudhar for their peerless contribution in the field of journalism.
