Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, over 100 people including girls were injured in Indian forces’ violent actions during a siege and search military operation in Shopian district, today.

Indian police and troops launched a massive siege and search operation in Heff Shirmal area of the district. Over one thousand troops and police personnel took part in the operation. People came out on the streets in the area and staged forceful demonstrations against the military action. Indian forces’ personnel fired bullets and pellets to disperse the protesters injuring over a hundred people. 20 people with pellet injuries have been shifted to different hospitals in Zainapora, Pulwama and Islamabad.

Indian forces’ personnel beat at least 110 civilians including 50 young girls inside their houses during the search operation, local told media men over phone. They also said that the forces severely beat up the family members of a liberation activist, Sadam Paddar including his mother and took away their mobile phones.

Reports said that as the protesters reached at the main chowk, shopkeepers downed their shutters and observed shutdown against the forces’ brutalities.

Meanwhile, hundreds of students in Srinagar and Hajin areas held peaceful demonstrations against the arrest of students. They raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. Indian police and troops used brute force to disperse the protesters, injuring several of them.
