In Istanbul, a few hundred supporters gathered near the Huber Mansion where President Recep Tayyip Erdogan followed the referendum results.Voters went to the polls Sunday to decide whether to approve changes to the country’s Constitution that would usher in an executive presidency. The Palestinian Liberation Organization expressed its happiness at the vote, saying the result would contribute to Turkey’s stability and more support on the Palestinian issue. Talaat Fehmi of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood told Anadolu Agency that Turkey had given the world a lesson in democracy by showing that leaders backed by their people can overcome all difficulties. President Erdogan has won historical referendum with a narrow margin and he is being felicitated by many world leaders. Some observers opined that his victory will further transform the country as he has led since 2013. The people of Turkey have once again showed confidence on the leadership of Erdogan as he had contributed a lot for stability and prosperity over more than a decade. Last year with the support of civil society he was succeeded to suppress rebellion against his government. As complains of illegal votes are also coming and large number of people also voted against him, Turkish President should also weight their opinion and should focus on reservations of opposition parties on different issues. He should also work for strengthening the institutions instead of promoting personalities.
