Muzaffarabad: Progress on the development programme for the financial year 2016-17 was reviewed at a quarterly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan here on Wednesday.
While addressing the meeting the prime minister said that an effective and comprehensive monitoring system was the key to the good governance.He said the department projects should be visible on the ground and steps should be taken for the improvement in standard, and quality of construction will not be compromised.He said Rs.8.5 billion were released till 31st of March 2017 and 7 billion has been utilised,it is fist time which is a record.He emphasised on the heads of the departments to ensure the implementation on the government decisions.He said,for the safe construction in the state Building Code Authority would be established.He directed for streamlining the pending issues of the water supply schemes of Muzaffarabad,Mirpur and Havelly districts so people of these areas could get facility of clean drinking water.The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to utilise all development funds transparently and in time. He said the people could get benefits of development projects initiated by the government if the development funds earmarked for these projects were utilised well in time and in a transparent manner. He said billions of rupees were being spent on development projects in the State.The prime minister said the schemes to improve living standard of the people had been included in the annual development programme, and education, health, infrastructure,agriculture, water and other sectors had been given priority by the government. He said funds worth billions of rupees had been earmarked for development and progress of the people of AJK and all-out funds would be provided for the development in the liberated area. He said that all departments were playing their role in the transparent spending of funds. He directed the authorities concerned to complete all projects at the fast track. He said a visible change is starting to witness due to government initiatives. He said delay in the projects for the provision of basic facilities to the people would not be tolerated and effective monitoring of the development projects would be continued. He said delay in the implementation of decisions could not be tolerated. He said time had change now and there was no room for wasting even a second and we had to adopt modern and professional methods to serve the humanity. He said that improvement in the health sector was being ensured with transparency to provide the best health facilities to the common man. Senior minister Ch Tariq Farooq,ministers Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan,Dr Najeeb Naqi,Barrister Iftikhar Gillani,Mushtaq Minhas,Ch Muhammad Saeed,Noreen Arif,Nasir Dar,Sardar Mir Akbar,acting Chief Secretary Syed Asif Shah and other secretaries to the government and heads of the departments attended the meeting.
