Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The leadership of Kashmiris from both sides of the line of control at a All Parties Conference held at Islamabad, has expressed great concern over the reports of making Gilgit and Baltistan a province of Pakistan and termed it as an attempt to divide Kashmir.
In a joint communiqué adopted at the conclusion of the APC, the government of Pakistan was urged to abstain from taking any step that could adversely affect the Kashmir cause. The participants of the APC organized by a national newspaper “Jammu and Kashmir” at National Press Club Islamabad was attended by former AJK prime minister and president Muslim Conference, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, Chief of PTI Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, President PPP Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Jamat e Islami Azad Kashmir Chief Abdur Radhid Tarabi, AJK minister Mushtaq Ahmed Minhas, Chief of JKLL Justice Abdul Majeed Malik, Syed Nishat Kazmi, Naila Khaneen, Rafiq Dar, Syed Yousaf Naseem, Prof. Khaleeq Ahmed and Ghulam Muhammad Safi unanimously declared that Gilgit and Baltistan are part of Te state of Jammu and Kashmir and any attempt to change their current status would be amounted to division of Kashmir.
They said that people of Gilgit and Baltistan deserve their long due constitutional and fundamental rights that should be given to them along with their economic rights under China Pakistan Economic Corridor. The Kashmiri leadership called upon prime minister of Pakistan to convene a all parties conference and take Kashmiri leadership into confidence on the issue of Gilgit and Baltistan.
They said that if government of Pakistan takes any step without taking Kashmiris into confidence it would not only negatively affect Kashmir cause but would also create a wedge between Kashmiris and Pakistan. The APC called for identical system of governance for AJK and Gilgit Baltistan with common president, Supreme Court and Kashmir Council for the both region the communique adopted on the occasion called upon the goer ment of Pakistan not to take any step in haist that send negative message across line of control.
