Islamabad: (Parliament Times) Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) says Kashmir has always been on top of its agenda and the Organization supports Pakistan’s principled stance on Kashmir dispute.
This was stated by OIC Secretary-General, Dr. Yousaf Ahmad Al-Othaimeen during his meeting with President Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan in Islamabad today.
The OIC Secretary-General said we strongly condemn massive human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and continue efforts to provide access to OIC’s fact finding mission in Occupied Kashmir.
Dr. Yousaf Ahmad said he would apprise the United Nations and other world institutions about the prevailing situation of Occupied Kashmir while using the OIC’s platform. He assured the AJK President that OIC would keep on supporting for right of self-determination of the Kashmiri nation.
The OIC Secretary General expressed concern at the atrocities being committed by the Indian Occupation Forces with impunity. He called for an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute through peaceful negotiations and underlined the need for India’s engagement with Pakistan through a dialogue process towards a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue. He said that the OIC would continue to monitor human rights situation in the IOK.
While expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people, the Secretary-General reiterated the OIC’s continued support to the right of self determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Masood Khan thanked the OIC Secretary General for continual support to the right to self-determination and peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute. He said OIC’s unflinching support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination is matter of great satisfaction.
While welcoming the OIC delegation headed by its Secretary General, President said the visit OIC is highly significant. He visit of the OIC delegation at such a time when United Nations is silent over the inhuman acts of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir is certainly moral boosting for the people of Kashmir. He appealed to the member countries of the organization to cooperate with Pakistan in raising Kashmir issue at global platforms including United nations.
He apprised Secretary General of the recent situation in the Indian Occupied Kashmir and highlighted the grave human rights violations being committed by the Indian forces in the held territory. He also stressed that sham elections held by India could never be a replacement of the Kashmiri’s right to self-determination and called on India to implement UN resolutions calling for plebiscite for the final disposition of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Kashmir conflict should be resolved in accordance with the will of the people to be expressed through the democratic method of a free and impartial plebiscite conducted under the auspices of the United Nations.
