Local bodies system is fully in place in Punjab as in other provinces after lapse of some years and the peoples elected representatives at the grass root level are getting first hand information about the problems and difficulties of the people for taking adequate measures subsequently to resolving the same at the earliest possible.Mayors, deputy mayors, chairmen and vice-chairmen of all tiers of local councils have also been duly elected and they have started performing their duties in the right earnest accordingly. A Local Bodies Leadership Convention was held in Lahore the other day in which the peoples elected representatives as a refresher course given briefing regarding the local bodies system and how best they can serve the people at the grass root level by trying to resolving their problems and initiating and completing development works for providing basic necessities of life in the rural as well as urban areas of the province. According to the reports, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif while inaugurating the convention quite rightly told the local bodies leadership that progress and prosperity can only be achieved through team work and that they should try their best to resolve the problems of their districts, cities and villages through hard work, determination and round the clock efforts. He also asked them to play their due positive role in the timely, quality and transparent completion of development projects for which they will be duly consulted. Needless to remind the local bodies leadership that they should do their best to the people sincerely, dedicatedly and devotedly during tenure as local bodies representatives as not only the provincial government but the people at the grass root level will be closely scrutinizing their performance and their good and bad work will determine their future as the local bodies leaders when the time for next election of local bodies comes. People will surely vote for those who had seved them in the best possible manner.
