KARACHI: 25-year-old Ahmed Shehzad is considered by many as one of the best opening batsmen in Pakistan.

Ahmed played his last T20 international against Australia in Mohali on 25 March, 2016. His recent run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) saw him score 242 runs in ten matches for the Quetta Gladiators which reached the final of the T20 tournament. With his recent performance his selection in the national team for all three formats seems like a strong possibility, especially with the suspension of Sharjeel Khan for alleged involvement in fixing during the PSL.

Pakistan is in desperate need of a quality opening batsman and Ahmed can fill that void. He has played in 11 Tests, 75 ODIs and 44 T20s in his career and has visited West Indies in 2011 and 2013.

According to a report, the training camp for the West Indies series will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore beginning March 11. The seven week tour of the West Indies will consist of four T20s, three ODIs and thee test matches. The tour will begin from March 26 in Barbados.
