Srinagar : In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while paying glowing tributes to martyrs of Zakura and Batamaloo massacres had demanded impartial proceedings under War Crimes Tribunal of the United Nations against the Indian troops involved in such mass killings during the past twenty-seven years in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Jammu and Kashmir had become the most militarized zone in the world and Indian troops had been involved in the killing of innocent people during the past several decades. “Till now no enquiry has been initiated against culprits nor was anyone involved in these heinous and inhuman crimes brought to book,” he added.

The APHC Chairman said that the blood of Zakura and Batmallo martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and Kashmiris would never forget the sacrifices rendered by their martyrs. “They are our heroes and their sacrifices are part of our history,” he said.

Since 1990, our freedom movement gained momentum and our brave hearts are challenging India and its hegemony, the octogenarian leader said. Referring to involvement of Indian forces in gruesome killings, he said that Indian forces were taking revenge from innocent and unarmed civilians.

While referring to countless massacres, Syed Ali Gilani said that in every nook and corner of occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people were killed brutally. He said that Indian forces and its agencies were involved in these massacres and there seems to be no let up in such killings.

The APHC Chairman appealed to the UN and the world community to come to the rescue of Kashmiri people and help stop their genocide and initiate action against perpetrators of these carnages.

Other Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi and Ghulam Nabi War at a meeting also remembered the martyrs of Zakura and Batmaloo. They said that the killers of these martyrs were still roaming free and no action had been taken against them. They demanded registration of cases of war crimes against the involved troops.

It is to mention here that on this day in 1990, trigger-happy Indian troops butchered more than 50 innocent people during protests in Zakura and Batamaloo areas of Srinagar.
