SHARJAH: Peshawar Zalmi wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal is already looking forward to the final of the Pakistan Super League in Lahore.

Talking to the media ahead of the first playoff against Quetta Gladiators tonight, the batsman said his entire team is excited about Lahore hosting the final of the tournament.

“My entire team and I personally are very excited and happy that cricket is coming back to Pakistan. What can be better than the final of the PSL being held in Lahore? There could be no bigger achievement than this,” said Akmal, who is the top-scorer this PSL for Zalmi with 208 runs to his name.

The batsman praised the efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board for making this feat possible.

“I give credit to PCB and PSL for making this happen. All of our domestic tournaments are held in Pakistan and they are all held safely. It’s time for PSL to come to our country as well,” he said.

Akmal added he was happy for the people of Pakistan who have waited so long for their favourite game to return to the country.

Asked about how he was trying to convince international players in his team to come to Lahore for the final, the wicketkeeper-batsman said that the top priority of all the players right now is to focus on tonight’s game.

“Everybody is focusing on the matches right now. International players are willing to come to Pakistan, we are just trying our best to reach the final first,” Akmal said.
