Muzaffarabad: AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said government will take all possible steps for protection of lives and properties of living along the Line of Control in Azad Kashmir.
He was addressing a public meeting at Keil in district Neelum on Saturday. The Prime Minister said AJK government is fully aware of the problems being faced by the people living at LoC and added they would not be left alone.
He said the AJK government has prepared and sent a scheme to Federal Ministry for Kashmir Affairs for provision of required funds to construct concrete bunkers along the Line of Control to protect the local population from India Shelling. He assured the affectees of Indian shelling that AJK and federal government are standing shoulder to shoulder with them.
Earlier addressing as Chief Guest at the oath taking ceremony of newly elected office bearers of Central Press Club Muzaffarabad, Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan said he held the entire political leadership of the state with high esteem and wants to maintain the democratic culture in AJK. He said every citizen has right to protest but no one would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government.
Saying that he will always stand with the weak and underprivileged segments of the society, Raja Farooq Haider Khan vowed that he will never compromise on the respect and dignity of the people of Azad Kashmir. “I will not let anyone to usurp the right of poor,” he asserted.
He urged the journalists to fulfill their responsibilities by protecting the rights of poor and oppressed and added that journalists should project the Kashmiri peoples’ struggle for their right to self determination by using the modern tools of media. He said that journalists should report by strictly following the ethical parameters of the reporting and must not ridicule the people.
The Prime Minister on the occasion announced to allocate the funds in next budget for construction of the building Press Club and promised to take steps for increase of annual grant for journalists’ welfare body, Press Foundation. The Prime Minister said government will take steps for timely payment of advertisement bills to the newspapers and provision of 3G and 4G internet technology to the people of Azad Kashmir.
He said that with generation of power from Patrind Hydropower Generation Project next month, issue of load shedding in Muzaffarabad and surrounding areas will be resolved. The oath taking ceremony was also addressed by PPP leader Chaudhry Latif Akbar, PTI AJK Secretary General Devan Ghulam Mohid-ud-Din, President Central Press Club Sohail Mughal. The oath taking ceremony was also attended by members of AJK cabinet, members of AJK legislative assembly, Secretary Information Mansoor Qadire Dar, Director General Information Raja Azhar Iqbal and large number of journalists working with, national and international media.
