KARACHI: Islamabad United batsman Khalid Latif, who along with fellow player Sharjeel Khan has been provisionally suspended over suspected match-fixing during the Pakistan Super League, has called himself innocent.
After being sent home from Dubai, Latif has started consultations with lawyers for a legal course of action.
He met with a lawyer on Monday for legal counsel. Earlier today, when asked by reporters for comments over his suspension, Latif insisted he was innocent.
“God is witness to this, I never did anything wrong,†he said.
PCB on Friday suspended Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan for their alleged links with an international syndicate that attempted to corrupt the PSL.
A formal charge sheet is being prepared by the PCB against the two national cricketers for spot-fixing in PSL, reliable sources told the newsmen.
A highly-placed source told Geo.TV on Sunday that the PCB has enough evidence that two cricketers agreed to spot fixing in meeting with the suspected bookie, who has been identified as Yousaf.
Meanwhile, the PCB is expected to announce the formation of a larger commission within 15 days to investigate corruption in cricket.
