Srinagar:In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) has thanked people of Kashmir for making the three-day protest programme given by joint resistance leadership a success.
An APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar reiterated the demand for return of mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Mohammad Afzal Guru to Kashmir. It termed public response as a referendum in support of Kashmir’s freedom from Indian forcible occupation. The complete shutdown was also a clear message to Indian rulers and world community that Kashmiris had never legitimized the Indian military rule and would fight till the end of this forced rule, the spokesman added.
The statement termed restrictions, crackdowns against leaders and activists and imposition of curfew like restrictions as illogical, saying: “The fact of the matter is that the authorities want to hide their dark face and weaknesses because whenever people held peaceful demonstrations they were stopped by police through violent means.â€
Condemning the arrest of its senior leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Qazi Yasir, Nayem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Merajudin, Mohamad Yassin Ataie, Mohammad Ashraf Laya and Syed Imtiyaz Hyder, the spokesman said these arbitrary arrests are unjustified and unlawful.
He said: “By calling three-day programme we want to send message to the world that the mortal remains of these two leaders be returned to their families for their burial as per their religious rituals.â€
The APHC statement said the people of Kashmir are looking towards the world community to come to the rescue and help them so that mortal remains of the two are handed over to their families.
