London: AJK government and the British Council have signed an agreement on Tuesday to implement the British Council’s programme to train six thousand teachers in public sector in AJK.

AJK minister for education Barrister Iftikhar Gillani and head of British Council signed the agreement.

Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, AJK Minister for Planning & Development Dr. Najeeb Naqi,addition Chief Secretary Syed Asif Shah, Secretary Education Irshad Qureshi and officials of British Council were present on the occasion.

According to agreement British Council will also teach English to thousands of students in AJK.Sharing the details regarding the agreement, Iftikhar Gillani said the programme offers training opportunities for teachers.

It also offers a unique opportunity for schools to share best practice with schools in the UK. He said that this programme offers a complete learning journey which helps schools to improve their skills of teachers. Head of British Council said the British Council aims to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and values to live and work in a globalised economy, he added.

It is worth mentioning that this collaboration between AJK government and the British Council is exclusively for the interest of the public sector teachers.

Meanwhile addressing PML-N workers in London AJK Prime Minister urged them to redouble their efforts for highlighting Kashmir issue in its right historical perspective.  He appealed world powers to exert their due influence on India to resume peace and settle the lingering Kashmir issue. Raja Farooq Haider said Indian forces have been employing brutal force to crush the aspirations of Kashmiri people and their just struggle for the right to self-determination.
