SRINAGAR :Â Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over are observing right to self-determination day today (Thursday).
The UN Security Council passed a resolution on January 5, 1949 recognizing basic human rights of Kashmiri people and promising to grant right to self-determination to them through an independent and transparent plebiscite.
APHC leaders in Occupied Kashmir in their statements said January 5, 1949 is an important day in the history of Kashmir.
They said time has come that India respect and implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir and resolve this dispute in accordance with aspiration of Kashmiri people.
In Azad Kashmir and Pakistan, different political, social and religious organizations have chalked out a number of programs, seminars and rallies to draw the world’s attention towards solution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, an International Parliamentary Seminar on Kashmir was held in Islamabad today to discuss the prevailing grim situation in Occupied Kashmir.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif  inaugurated the seminar, organized by Young Parliamentarians Forum of the National Assembly.
He vowed to continue moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of Kashmir in freedom movement.
It was attended by over four hundred delegates, including Members of Parliament and experts from European Parliament, UK, Canada and North America.
The seminar provided a platform to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Occupied Kashmir, where people demanding right of self-determination are being killed by Indian forces.
After the inaugural session, the seminar had panel discussions on the role of UN and major powers in Kashmir dispute.
