India Women beat Pakistan Women by 17 runs to clinch the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup title in Bangkok, Thailand today (Sunday).

Pakistan were set a target of 122 by India but could only manage 104 for the loss of six wickets after a close finish. Skipper Bismah Maroof was the top scorer for Pakistan with 25 runs. Opener Javeria Khan scored 22. Nida Dar and Sana Mir were not out at 12 each.

Pakistan earlier restricted India to 121-5 in 20 overs. Anam Amin claimed two wickets while Sana Mir and Sadia Yousuf took one each.

India opener Mithali Raj remained not out at 73.

Pakistan qualified for the final after defeating Thailand by five wickets on Saturday. The Girls in Green will now meet their archrivals India for the T20 crown.

In their final round of the tournament, hosts Thailand were bundled out for a mere 51 runs in 18.2 overs after their captain Sornnarin Tippoch won the toss and elected to bat first.

Pakistan allrounder Sana Mir captured four wickets for just nine runs from her quota of four overs. She was assisted by left-arm spinner Anam Amin (2-6) and off-spinner Nida Dar (2-13) while right-arm pacer Asmavia Iqbal took one for eight.

Pakistan then achieved the easy target of 52 in just 11.4 overs for the loss of five wickets. Asmavia scored 24 and Nida made 14 for Pakistan.
