RAWALPINDI: (Parliament Times) Adviser to CM and Vice-Chancellor Information Technology University Lahore Dr Umar Saif has said that  Pakistan has no shortage of talented workforce and best research facilities are available, and focus should paid on the research that matters. He said centers of excellence universities are real agents of change and cause of development and progress in the whole world and that is also true for Pakistan as well. He said that the leading universities of world including MIT do not have such facilities that do not exist in Pakistan, besides this enabling environment and talented youth are also available but the culture of result-oriented and productive research needs to be promoted for the development and progress in the country.

He expressed these views while speaking as a special guest at the 13th Annual Fulbright &Humphrey Alumni Conference titled : “Agents of Change: Fulbright and Humphrey Alumni”.  Adviser to CM Dr Umar Saif said that the Information Technology University, Lahore has been set up for the promotion of result-oriented research culture and more jobs will created for the youth through advanced research. He said that during his years in the MIT he learnt the research that matters is the research that can change the world for better otherwise hundreds of thousands research papers are produced world over every year.

Adviser to CM Dr Umar Saif said the budget of the HEC has been increased significantly over the years, and the best research facilities are also available for the talented youth, but the focus should be laid on the research that matters.
