Srinagar: National Front chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan has said that the night raids and the crackdown on civilian populations in different villages across Kashmir has become a new tool of tyranny in the hands of police, Army and paramilitary forces to torture and humiliate the common people of Kashmir. He has also condemned the unabated arrest spree of the people particularly the youngsters under draconian Public Safety Act. He said the government must understand that it cannot suppress the voice of the people by torturing them and by violating their basic human rights. Neither can brutality deter Kashmiris from pursuing their sacred movement. He said that common villagers are being forced the come out of their homes in the chilling cold during the crackdowns and all this is being done only to punish them for standing against the oppression. The state government is ruining educational carrier of the youth by arresting them under the black laws like PSA. It is shameful on part of the government that even the minors have been booked under the draconian laws. FIR’s are being lodged against the youngsters on false charges. Even the Imams of the mosques are not being spared from this kind of brutality. All this is being done to suppress the ongoing freedom movement. The government has given Police officials, bureaucrats and its agents a free hand to create restlessness among the masses by the vicious acts. He applauded the Kashmiri nation for standing fearlessly and bravely against the ongoing state oppression.

Meanwhile, Nayeem Khan has expressed deep shock and grief over the sudden demise of Saif Yousuf, son of Mohammad Yousf and nephew of Srinagar Times editor Bashir Ahmad Bashir.
