Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the President of Anjuman Shari Shian Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi and Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) General Secretary, Nahida Nasreen, have termed the approval of Pakistan-sponsored resolution on people’s right to self-determination by the United Nations General Assembly a welcome development.They said that such bold steps by Islamabad had always encouraged the people of Jammu and Kashmir who were struggling to secure their right to self-determination.Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that this resolution would prove beneficial for those nations who were aspiring for freedom and liberty. “The resolution will serve to focus the world’s attention on the struggle by peoples for their inalienable right to self-determination, including those in Kashmir and Palestine,†he added.Nahida Nasreen in her statement said, “Pakistan’s resolution that the universal realization of people’s right to self-determination is a fundamental condition for the effective guarantee and observance of human rights, is highly encouraging and a welcome step.†She thanked Pakistan for rising up for the rights of the people of Kashmir and other oppressed nations in the world. “Pakistan’s commitment to the universal right of people’s self-determination is firm and abiding. The people of Kashmir should not lose hope as we have achieved a lot during the last four months. Pakistan is able to untiringly take the Kashmir dispute to international forums when people at the ground have stood firm and willingly taken the responsibility of taking the mission to logical conclusion,†she pointed out.
The DeM leader said that the Kashmir dispute had attracted the world attention during the last over four months. She said that Pakistan should not only advocate the Kashmir cause but should also act as a party to the dispute as Kashmir dispute was unfinished agenda of the partition of Indian subcontinent.
