Muzaffarabad:(Parliament Times)Â A meeting chaired by Secretary Education (School) Irshad Ahmed Qureshi on Thursday reviewed progress of Waseela-e-Taleem Programme of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)
The meeting deliberated in detail the goals and achievements of the program and expressed its satisfaction over the enrollment of 37, 599 poor students from age 5 to 12 in three districts of AJK under Waseela-e-Taleem Programme. The Secretary Education assured that education department would fully cooperate with BISP realize it targets under Waseela-e-Taleem Programme. He directed his officials of the education department to extend all possible cooperation to BISP. He suggested that programme should be carried out in other districts of AJK to benefit the poor children.
Speaking on the occasion Director Waseela-e-Taleem Chaudhry Naveed told the meeting that BISP had achieved significant successes in streamlining the budget, operation capacity, new steps, payment system and adopting modern technical modus operandi. He said that 37,599 poor children of district Mirpur, Kotli and Bagh were enrolled in the programme. On the condition of 70 percent attendance the children of 5-12 years are paid Rs. 750 after every three months, he added. Naveed offered AJK to use the platform of BISP beneficiary committees for creating awareness and adventures of social drives and urged to strengthen the cooperation between federal and state governments in extension of Waseela-e-Taleem Programme.
Speaking on the occasion Regional Director BISP AJK region Raja Kaleemullah Khan said that secret of a nation’s development lies in education. He said BISP plays an important role in providing education at primary level to the underprivileged segments of society. The meeting was attended by officers of AJK education department and BISP.
