Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, pro-freedom leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the teargas shelling on the mourners carrying the body of a teenage boy, Qaisar Sofi.The 16-year-old boy, Qaiser Sofi, was found in an unconscious state a day after he went missing on 27th October. He was admitted at the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where he breathed his last at around last night.
The family members and locals said that the boy was arrested by Indian forces and was subjected to custodial torture that led to his killing. The Chairman of Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement in Srinagar deplored that first an innocent boy was subjected to custodial torture by Indian forces and later teargas shells were showered on the participants of his funeral. He said that the excesses of Indian police and troops were intolerable and the world human rights organizations must take steps to stop these atrocities.The General Secretary of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Maulana Abdullah Tari in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressing deep grief over the killing of the teenager described it another black deed by Indian police authorities.APHC leader, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, in his statement in Srinagar denouncing the teargas shelling on the mourners carrying the body of Qaisar Sofi said that the occupational forces were carrying out the worst form of oppression against the people. He said that forces’ personnel particularly the police had made the life of a common Kashmiri a hell by unleashing the worst kind of state terrorism.“Arrests, tortures, nocturnal raids, intimidations, and arresting fathers in place of sons have become a routine for police. This force has turned merciless but they shouldn’t forget that they have to answer for their actions before people one day,†he said.
Hurriyet leader, Javaid Ahmad Mir, in a statement in Srinagar, in his statement said that Kashmir had been turned into a police state where innocent people particularly youth and students were being targeted. He also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar denounced teargas shelling on the mourners and said that it had further exposed the real face of the ‘biggest democracy’. He appealed to the world community and international human rights organizations to take strict action against the undemocratic actions of the forces in the territory.
