Muzaffarabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Farooq Haider Khan chaired a meeting regarding resettlement and rehabilitation of post 89 Kashmiri refugees based in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir here on Tuesday.
It was decided in the meeting that work on provision of basic facilities including sewerage, link corridors and water supply should be started within a month in refugee colonies. In this regard, a committee has been constituted, which would be headed by Minister Rehabilitation Nasir Dar. Minister for food Syed Shaukat Shah and Member Assembly Ahmed Raza Qadri are also part of this rehabilitation committee.
Pertinently, the committee has been tasked to address the issues of fake state subjects, acquisition and allotment of land for graveyards and colonies.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister said, “Refugees of Indian occupied Kashmir are our brethren, they are sons of soil and there settlement should be in our priority.”
He reiterated that it was government’s responsibility to provide basic necessities to refugees. “Stern action will be taken against those who under the garb of refugees acquire state subject subjects through unfair means. Any kind of delinquency in this regard he said won’t be tolerated.
Prime Minister exhorted that practice of fake state subject is intolerable and directed the committee to give strong recommendations within a month to solve this issue besides resettlement. Prime Minister also directed the committee members to include suggestions of other elected representatives for this purpose.
Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) Fayyaz Ahmed Abbasi, Secretary Local government, Commissioner Rehabilitation, DG local government and rural development including Project director also attended the meeting.
