Rawalkot: (Parliament Times) On the occasion of International Women’s Day the Pakistan Peoples Party (Kashmir chapter) organized a function here on Thursday.
Addressing the function the former information minister Sardar Abid Hussain Abid said that womenfolk was being frequently subjected to discrimination throughout the country but the history bears witness to the fact that PPP was the only political party that had worked for social and political emancipation of women in the country. Terming the PPP as pioneer of women’s rights he said, “The PPP had the privilege to empower women, bringing them in parliament and making them a part of the government”. Speaking on the occasion central leader of PPP Hafiz Sagheer said that his party would continue its efforts to promote women and fight for their rights. Others who spoke on the occasion included, Sardar Babrak Shairf, Amjad Khhaliq, Rukhsana Lateef, Nazia Khan, and several others.
