KARACHI: Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq said that the cricket team will be inquired about the poor performance in the ongoing New Zealand tour after their return.
Talking to media in Karachi after the final match of the One Day Cup for Departments, the chief selector said he is ready to take responsibility of Pakistan’s defeat, but it should be remembered that two matches are still left in the series.
On one hand, Inzamam was of the opinion that he will not accept any excuses regarding the defeat, and on the other, he seemed hopeful of better performance in the remaining matches. He said he does not want to put extra pressure on the players now by giving any harsh statement.
Inzamam admitted that conditions in New Zealand are tough, but the Green Shirts displayer poor performance according to him. He suggested team management to give chance to those who were out of the playing XI in the first three matches if key players are not performing well.
The chief selector maintained that the way Pakistan batsmen lost their wickets in all games is disappointing as well as intolerable. Such a performance was not accepted from the men in green as the team are almost same which won the ICC Champions Trophy.
Inzamam-ul-Haq said Pakistan are making those mistakes which can be avoided, and advised the squad to keep their focus only on performance. He told that the selection committee and coaches were on same page regarding the combination and all decision were taken after consultations.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan have already lost the five-match one-day international (ODI) series against the Kiwis by going down easily in the first three outings. The Black Caps had in fact humiliated the Green Shirts by thrashing them with a 183-run defeat in the third game.
