Islamabad: (Parliament Times) A high level meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) on Monday after reviewing the progress of the OPF expressed satisfaction on disbursement of financial aid of 55 crore rupees to the families of destitute and disabled overseas Pakistanis.
Presided by Chairman OPF Board of Governors, Barrister Amjad Malik, the meeting was attended by Managing Director OPF, Member OPF Board of Governors, Manzoor Kiyani (representing Secretary Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development) and Abdul Akbar Sharifzada, Member Board of Governors.
The Committee showed satisfaction on disbursement of financial aid of Rs 55 crore to the families of destitute and disabled overseas Pakistanis. The amount is 22% higher than the budgeted cost. Through Financial Aid Scheme, in case of death, accidental or natural OPF provides PKR 400,000/= to the legal heirs. This amount is in addition to any insurance provided by State Life Insurance. The compensation is provided on priority processing time, which is one month.
OPF has launched new, professionally designed website which is being widely appreciated by users around the globe. OPF health insurance will have direct impact on the overseas Pakistanis and their families and will get direct relief under this scheme. Moreover, OPF internship program is aims to provide training and skills to the youth belonging to overseas Pakistanis. Performance of OPF airport and welfare officers/ staff was appreciated for their tireless efforts in facilitating Overseas Pakistanis.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the progress to date of OPF. The present government attaches high priority to the overseas Pakistanis, for the welfare of Overseas Pakistanis.
