Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notice of contempt of court to Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal, ,former PM Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, PEMRA and other respondents for delivering anti judiciary speeches besides seeking reply from them.
A single bench of LHC led by Justice Shahid Kareem took up the case for hearing Tuesday.
The petitioner, Azhar Siddique, the head of Activism Panel has told the court that after PANAMA case Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz have started giving anti-judiciary statements which is clearly a contempt of court
He further said that High court has issued directives to PEMRA for halting broadcasting of anti-judiciary speeches.
He said PEMRA has taken no steps for halting broadcasting anti judiciary speeches.
The court has issued notices to PEMRA, Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Ahsan Iqbal for March 15 and sought reply from them.
Court has allowed secretary PEMRA to become a respondent in central case.
