ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) Chairman NAB Justice (R) Javed Iqbal has said that father of the nation Quaid-e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in his address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan had termed “One of the biggest curses… is bribery and corruption. That really is a poison. We must put it down with an iron hand”. NAB is committed to corruption free Pakistan.
He said that NAB is committed to recover looted money from corrupt and bring them to justice as per law. NAB has chalked out comprehensive operational methodology for proceeding of cases complaint verification, inquiry and investigation. NAB’s investigation officers strictly zero tolerance policy against corrupt and proceed on the basis of solid evidence as per law. He said that to close the possibility of any single NAB officer/official influencing the discharge of official business, the concept of a “Combined Investigation Team” (CIT) was introduced where two investigation officers and a legal consultant are working as a team for a fair, transparent and unbiased, inquiry/ investigation.
He said that due to NAB’s efforts, national and international organizations have rated decreased in Pakistan’s Corruption Perception Index from 175 to 116. Pakistan is the only country whose corruption perception index is persistently on declining trend. NAB had been unanimously elected as chairman of SAARC Anti Corruption Forum which is the great achievement of Pakistan due to NAB’s efforts.
He said that NAB has initiated complaint verifications, inquiries and investigations across the board on alleged allegations of corruption etc. Due to indiscriminate actions of NAB against corrupt, NAB has apprehended various corrupt and presented them before the respective Accountability Courts as per law. He said that comparative figures for the last one year are indicative of the hard work being put in by all ranks of NAB staff in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism, where fight against corruption is being taken as a national duty. He said that NAB with improved infrastructure and rationalized workload, timelines has been prescribed for efficient, effective and expeditious disposal of cases.
