Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, multiple funerals, with participation by tens of thousands of people, were held for three youth killed by Indian troops in Kakapora area of Pulwama district, late night.
The bodies of three youth identified as Abdul Majid, Shariq Ahmad and Irshad Ahmad were recovered from the debris of a house destroyed by the troops during crackdown operation at Kakpora in the district, this morning.
The youth were laid to rest in their native areas amid pro-freedom and pro-Islam slogans. Funeral prayers of Majid and Shariq were held at Kakapora, while three rounds of prayers were held for Irshad at Jamia Masjid Awantipora.
Meanwhile, traffic remained suspended on Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipora, today, after massive protests erupted against the killing of the youth. Irshad Ahmad was a resident of Padgampora village of Awantipora.
Authorities imposed restrictions in Kakapora, Awantipora and Pulwama town to prevent protests against the killings. “Restrictions have been imposed in Kakapora, Awantipora and Pulwama town as a precautionary measure, in view of prevailing law and order situation,†said a statement, issued by District Magistrate Pulwama. Schools and colleges were also closed in these areas, while Internet services were suspended.
