Islamabad: The caretaker government has decided to write a letter to the Swiss authorities against former president Asif Ali Zardari for alleged transfer of looted money in Swiss banks, sources said on Thursday.
A letter against Asif Ali Zardari will soon be written to the Swiss authorities. The decision of writing a letter has been taken following the Supreme Court’s five years old decision. The apex court had ordered the then prime miniter Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani for writing a letter to the Swiss authorities against Zardai for his alleged transfer of looted money in the Swiss banks.
However, the former prime minister refused to write any such letter against Asif Ali Zardari . Following the refusal, the top court disqualified former prime minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillan.
It is pertinent to mention here that the former president was being blamed for looting public money and later shifting it to foreign accounts. A case pretending to existence of $60 million in accounts in Swaziland has been under proceeding in a court in Swaziland as well. Dr Babar Awan was used to fight Zardari’s case in the court in Swaziland.
Former caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk has directed the caretaker government to bring the looted money back into the national exchequer. In the light of the prime minister’s direction, Minister for Law Ali Zafar and Attorney General of Pakistan has started consultation process.
The sources confirmed that the government will write a letter to the Swaziland government as it completes consultation process.
Nasirul Mulk had disqualified former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gallani for not writing a letter to the Swaziland government while he was judge of the case pertaining to transfer of money in foreign banks by Asif Ali Zardari.
The caretaker prime minister can also play his role in bringing the looted money back in the exchequer.
