Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, a minor from Baramulla district continues to languish under illegal detention in Jammu even after High Court of the territory has quashed black law Public Safety Act (PSA) against him.
The High Court had on December 6 set aside the PSA against Rayees Ahmad Mir, 16, ruling that he was a minor.
“Section 8(3)(f) of PSA bars the detention under the Act of any person under the age of eighteen years.
Rayees’ counsel Kartik Murukutla said under the law, the authorities were required to produce his client, who had been detained in Kotbhalwal Jail Jammu, before Chief Judicial Magistrate Baramulla once his PSA was quashed.
Rayees, a resident of Delina, Baramulla, was arrested by police on September 16 and slapped with PSA, in violation of the law itself.
Rayees’ maternal uncle Zahoor Ahmad Rather said they were informed by police that after his release from Kotbhalwal, Rayees was shifted to RS Pura center in Jammu.
